Description

The listing, White Fruiting Mulberry Seeds! Fast Growing Shade Tree with edible Fruit! has ended.

White mulberries when ripe have a sweet nutty flavor. makes great jam or can be dried and eaten that way. chewy and crunchy at the same time.

You will get a zip lock filled with mulberries. Each mulberry fruit has lots of seeds in it. They are still white and not quite ripe but will be in a few weeks. You can plant the whole berry and will be guaranteed to have spoutlings with them.

Fruiting Mulberry trees can be cut back to the trunk each fall and will not produce fruit the following spring. Or you can let them grow year after year and get thousands of mulberries.

Species

The white mulberry (Morus alba) is native to eastern and central China, but became naturalized in North America when it was introduced by the early colonists for silkworm production; it is regarded as a weed tree in many parts of the country.

Description

All mulberry species are deciduous, but they vary as to when they leaf out. The leaves of the white mulberry appear in early spring, weeks before those of the black mulberry. The mulberry's oval leaves are a bright, glossy green and irregularly lobed, turning yellow in the fall. White mulberries can reach 80 feet, and can also be pyramidical or weeping in form. White mulberry may produce fruit for hundreds of years.

You said that the mullberries you send won't be quiet ripe....... I take it that the seeds are mature enough then to get some to germinate? Should one wait for the fruit to ripen prior to planting? Plant in pots or direct plant? What time of year would you think best for planting? Sounds like a tree that could help anyone trying to be self sustaining. Sounds like it could be a bit like mesquite as well (invasive). But, that could help produce firewood as well in future years. :) Watching.

they will be ripe. the pics i took where still unripe. i am already collecting ripe ones :) I suggest ots. much easier to care for. You can drop the whole seed right in and then cull off the extras. These, if planted now, should sprout before end of summer. I actually found some from last year as well as some seedlings that have sprouted. I am thinking about listing the,. I need to "prepare" one for shipping and see how it holds up for the 3 days it would take to get there after digging up. And yes, You could have a TON of firewoood off these in just a few years.

May I ask a stupid, ignorant question: Will this grow in zones 7-8; we are on the dividing line between the two zones. And I love--and wholly agree-- with your blocking statement: I have blocked a few and will block more I am certain. I did have a mulberry tree; the old time kind. Definitely not white; did not know such were available. Thanks for posting this!

not a stupid question at all! It's stated in my details because of people trying to argue about how my price is wrong, how they can get a gift card cheaper someplace else, The item is not worth that, etc. questions about an item or welcome. :)

It should be fine. The info i looked up says hardy to zone 7. But these are really tough trees. Grow like weeds and are considered a pest in some areas of the states. I would say it should be fine We get 45ish days down to 28 degrees and 40+ days above 100.

There are 4 types of Mulberry. Non Fruiting, red, black and white. I haven't tried the other 2 types of fruiting ones so I dont know how to compare the taste.

The last picture is what the ripe mulberries will look like or are they all white ? I lived in Missouri and we got very cold winters with tons of snow and ice and I had a Red Mulberry tree that was never bothered by the weather and produced thousands of berries for my children and the birds to eat . Definitely watching :)

THANKS!

they are white when they first start like the ones in my hand. the last pic is a stock pic because i didnt have enough ripe ones when i took the pics. I just realized now it's a pic of red ones. these will be a softer pink shade and not quite as sweet as the reds/blacks. They have seeds like raspberries. tiny and inside the fruit.
