Ultraviolet is basically having a movie in the "Cloud". With an Ultraviolet account (accompanied with Flixter and/or Vudu) you can have a movie library online.
With Vudu, you can access your movies on your TV with a streaming device like Roku or a Smart DVD player or Smart TV. You can watch your movies anywhere, including your phone if you have a smart phone.
What I love about it is this, you can add up to 5 members to your Ultraviolet account and then link them each to your Vudu account. So, with this, you can build up a great movie library and then enable 5 family members to share it regardless if they live with you or not.
Once I learned about Ultraviolet, I started converting my entire movie collection so I don't have to bother looking for the DVD/BluRay I want to watch. I love having it at my finger tips :-)
By the way, you can pick up a Roku player for about $60. You just have to have Cable internet.
