The listing, 1853 Half Dime Variety 3 Arrows at Date has ended.
There were 3 Varieties of 90% silver Liberty Seated Half Dimes minted in the U.S. between 1837 and 1873. This is variety 3, minted between the years 1853-1855. While the obverse appears to be in good condition, the reverse is not, rating about good at best. There is some damage to the coin, especially on the reverse, where there are some gouges and the rims "bleed" into the legends, making some of them unreadable. There is no way to tell if this coin has a mint mark ('O" for New Orleans) because the area where the mint mark would be is worn over. The coin is slightly bent as shown in picture 3. The Official Red Book lists a Good grade 1853 as retailing at $18; however, this coin is worth less than that because of damage. About 13.2 million of the 1853 were originally minted, but like most silver coins from this era, many have been melted down. The coin weighs 1.24 grams, and has a diameter of 15.5 millimeters, which is a little over 1/2". I encourage you to ask any questions you might have at any time. Thank you for checking out my auction. Also, please note that I am unable to offer GIN until I receive my seller wings.
