Questions & Comments
F&W, hope you don't mind but you just made think of a question i have , i am fairly new to listia , you commented on shipping price and i have finished four auctions already, but my question is how do you know shipping cost before you take it to send it? I quess what I'm trying to figure out is how to prepare better for future auction's cause i offered free on a heavy item and got sticker shock at post office, LOL. Do you tke it post office and check before auction or is there another way? Thanks for any help, didn't mean to turn this into about me but could use advice. Really like this item also.
That is a good question, you see I sell a lot on eBay so I know the shipping cost for most things by now. You have to remember when giving free shipping to take this into consideration:
The weight- The weight will be what usually determines the price.
The type of shipping- Depending on which service you use you have a different price range to go by. For example if you ship some books and the box weight 10 pounds the don't use parcel or anything like that use media mail the price will be less than half, for small packages use priority or first class mail it should only cost 2 to 3 dollars. Sometimes flat rate boxes work for small but heavy items instead of a certain service, ask your postman which service works best.
Is the item really worth giving free shipping on- If the item you put up for bid is not going to give you much it is probably best not to put it in the first place or to offer free shipping. You have to make sure you will make a big enough profit that it is worth giving. That should help you out, good luck.
