The listing, Ruby and Marcasite Ring ...size 9 has ended.

....It looks pretty, oh so pretty..it's so pretty and glit'try and bright......just waxing musical for a bit...on to the ring

The band is stamped 925.....sterling silver, size 9.

The lovely marquise ruby is surrounded by smiley little marcasites...their bed measures 1 1/4 inches long,, ... 5/8 inch wide,

The sterling band is 1/2 inch wide where it joins the ruby and marcasites and tapers to 1/8 inch at its most narrow

.. at its most narrow there are a few scratches from wear. There is also what looks to be almost a crack on the inside. It does not go through the entire band...perhaps it needs a bit of solder or super glue. You jewelers out there would know best.

Although it is delightful company, it does have a few dings and appears to be almost cracked......like most of the people we know...

Is this a genuine ruby just curious. And do you know if this ring maybe able to be resized. Downwards not up. Just curious.

Hi - Please read the note above....the stone is a ruby cz.....sorry, I don't know if it can be made smaller...does anybody out there in Listialand know the answer to this question?

This looks like a garnet, which is a pretty and bright stone far more common in silver. Garnets tend to have more of an amber tone as opposed to rubies which look a lot cooler, towards the blue type of pink. The teeny crack may be where it was sized. I like it, but it will probably soar above my available points- alas,

Hi - thank you for your astute analysis...I went back to the original sale and the ring was listed as sterling silver, 'ruby cz' , surrounded by marcasites. Maybe this is why it looked to you like a garnet...because it is a cz. Thanks to you and Redcrossangel
for bringing this to everyone's attention...if this all came up after the listing was over, I would just quit.....as it is, I am just sick..I will correct the listing immediately...

I must apologize to all of you for listing it as 'ruby' when it is a cz....it is really discouraging to find I've been stupid... I thought I had a genuine ruby.....it is never my intention to mislead anyone... ..if anyone wants to cancel or change their bid, I will contact Listia to make things right

GORGEOUS! I am an estate jewelry appraiser, & I can tell you that this is a GREAT vintage ring, the setting & the stone cut along with the marcasites makes this a highly desirable ring, whether it is a cz or not, which I doubt. This nice of a setting would not have been made for a cz. I tend to believe, just from the photos, that this is most likely a high quality garnet.
In any case, I hope this zooms for you, it is lovely. 20 years ago in my Vintage Clothing & Estate Jewelry Shoppe, I would have asked at least $175.00 for this lovely ring, even with the small defects.
