Kodak Easyshare Z980

This is a super nice camera: 12 Megapixel, 24X Optical zoom, nice big LCD screen, Schneider-Kreuznach lens, image stabilization, shoots 720p HD video, takes normal AA batteries, and the list goes on and on. The Z980 was rated as Kodak's last great camera and is very hard to find.

The only problem is that the camera gives a "lens obstructed" error. The lens is stuck and will not extend. I am pretty sure the lens just needs to be realigned. There are text and video guides online for this, examples:

I wish I had the time to open it and fix it, but I don't, so I am offering it up here for someone that wants a nice camera if they put a little time into it.

Includes camera with neck strap and lens cover.

Kodak is no longer in business. How would one be able to repair it then?

You can either do the repair yourself (as I am sure many bidders here are planning on doing), or many local camera shops will do this repair for you.

Yes there should be both a data cable and an AV cable. You have neither?

by the way, if the instructions for repair don't work - the winner can get a new lens assembly and replace it him/herself for $69 http://r.ebay.com/i1KOJw

You're right; at one point I had at least the A/V cable. I'm sure its in a box of cables in the garage so if I can find it, I will include it. Otherwise, it looks like they are cheap on eBay.

And thanks for the replacement part - I didn't even realize they were available.

Sometimes the best deals are for things that don't work so I always look at the fully working price and then see what the parts/repair cost. This one appears to be a good deal for someone with a little patience.

I did take the camera to a local shop and they said they could repair it for $60 (no charge if they couldn't fix it) but I didn't want to spend the money since I already have a decent (Canon S90) camera which I love.
