what is iron on seam binding?...so you don't have to sew things together?

I've never used it before but yes it sticks to the fabric when ironed on. I believe you use it for the outer edge on fabric/item kind of like "framing" the fabric.

Right, some is iron on, some isn't. I think some of the binding is literally from the 80's.
