Released on March 30, 1987 through A&M Records, the album was a commercial success, albeit somewhat of a disappointment following the huge success of 1984's Reckless. Into the Fire sold over 2 million units worldwide, peaking at number 7 on the US Billboard 200 chart and reaching high positions in charts worldwide.[5] The album was recorded at Adams' home in London, England.
