What are the cultivars? If the seeds are from grafted trees, you can never be sure exactly what you'll get because plants grown from seed are all slightly different.

Lots of citrus are grafted onto a rootstock. In most citrus trees, the scion, or top of the tree, is a different variety from the roots or rootstock of the tree. I'm sure it's the same for most any grafted fruit tree.

Are your local fruit trees grafted trees? What are the cultivars? That's the question. I have to know so that I can decide if I will get true to type trees from the seeds.

I do have some concord grapes, and also some noble muscadine, Kiwi..however, unless purchased from a plant farm, there is no way of knowing the particular brand, since these have been growing a long time. The fruit is the same, not known, since most have been around and on home steads for a long time. Everyone else has trees from the same, and yep the fruit is the same as the parent tree. Thanks for asking.

That's good to know since Concord grapes will most likely not survive here due to Pierce's disease.

The picture is a fuzzy Kiwi. That's a start.

How cold does it get in your area?

How many chill hours do you get in your area?

Please, i am planting orchards, as far away as Tennessee right now. I don't just keep seeds for my area alone.

shirleybill "Seeds grown from heirloom trees are the same, and will come out true to type."

That's correct! And at least part of what I need to know. So you are stating that the seeds you are selling are from heirloom varieties?

Please, then how is a bidder from FLORIDA to know if your varieties will get enough chill hours to actually produce?

I live in NC. I believe there are quite a few that can grow here if cared for properly. I think we are considered zone 7. Hey, it's free so it's worth a try starting indoors or greenhouse then slowly introducing to the outside :0) Great auction!

I do not send out grapefruit to areas unless specifically requested, because normally it takes a higher zone for them to perform well. However grapefruit has been known to successfully grow in Texas.

what zones will your seeds grow in? I saw you said you will send seeds to accommodate the zone we live in but just wanted to make sure. I am in Alabama zone 7 and I just wanted to double check before I bid. it's do very dry n humid here in the summer.

Pomegranate, persimmon, pears, crab apple, all will work in zone 7. Looks like peach would work also, although i do not do peach, because i have such a hard time getting them to germinate.

I am in northern Oregon zone 8, wet rainy but not too cold winters, what do you have that would grow well here? I am always on the lookout for heirloom seeds, have been trying to find a wolf river apple for 20 years, can only find cuttings for $30 apiece, and I don't know how to graft them onto a mother tree, darn it !
