To be honest, I am not certain whether it is real or not. I always believed it was real as my grandmother bought this for me as part of a necklace. It had been a graduation gift. There used to be a diamond, at least I believed it was one, clip above the opal (?). It is a beautiful charm no matter real or not. Thanks for your question.
