This fire starter does not have the striker but does have the large Mg. bar and flint .a knifeor piece of metal will work to scrape the Mg (silver bar) off onto the tinder then hits the black area (strip down the front of the bar) flint to create a spark. The Mg burns at around 2500 - 3000 degrees enabling the tinder to catch easier esp if damp.Thank you for looking
