yeah it works just took it out of an acer notebook cause the screen was junk i dont even know whats on it lol

is it 5400rpm or 7200rpm? and 3.5 inches or 2.5 inches? and SATA connector? if you don't know, could you possibly tell what model the laptop you took it from is?
