Silver nickels were only minted from 1942 - 1945, and feature a prominent mint mark on the reverse.

Again I apologize about the silver content. Had read that coins minted prior to 1964 were silver.

Pre-1965 dimes, quarters, and halves are the ones that are 90% silver.
Nickels have been historically, for the most part, made of nickel (copper-nickel).
