Wartime Jefferson Nickels were released by the United States Mint during the years of 1942-1945. Each has a composition of 56% copper, 9% manganese and 35% silver for a total silver weight of 0.05626 ounces.

Nice coin, but it isn't the silver version of the 1942 nickel as you describe.

Silver nickels have a mint mark on the reverse above the Monticello. Still a cool auction!

yes nice coin but not silver this is a type 1 variety half way through 42 they changed to 35%silver for the war effort and they were distingwished through a large mint mark P,D or S above monticello
