A great story, with a comical storyline for both children and adults. Teaches children that love and determination win out over evil. Dom DeLuise is in rare form as the crow Jeremy who befriends her. Mrs. Brisby's son is ill with pneumonia and needs the help of the rats on the farm to save her son's life. During this quest, she learns that her late husband and several rats were experimented upon years ago at a place called NIMH ("National Institute of Mental Health) giving them higher intellectual powers. The rats wish to leave the farmland to become independent, yet their plans are thwarted when a few rebel rats with more selfish goals interfere. These storylines intertwine, yet it is Mrs. Brisby who learns that her love and courage really can conquer all.
