The listing, Netopia USB Wireless Network Adapter has ended.
Netoptia TER/USB2-N Wireless-G (802.11g) USB network adapter, no drivers needed for Windows 7, the Windows XP driver can be downloaded from: http://drvdatabasegj.org/r/rc6awu_902t_download_netopia.html
Exactly right, this will let you connect to a wireless network from a computer that doesn't have a built in network adapter. There are other applications as well.
There are several DIY signal boosters that combine a USB adapter with a parabolic dish antenna to increase its effective range, the end result is a directional antenna built with materials that are inexpensive and easy to come by, check out http://www.usbwifi.orconhosting.net.nz/ or Google 'Poor Man's WiFi'. Hope that answers your question!
i travel alot with my old man he is a truck driver so i have to relie on hot spot and the signal never any good will it boost my hot spot signals on my laptop . when im on the road with him?
You combine this with a parabolic antenna and use it as a long range WIFI receiver (see above post), you would have to disable the laptops internal WIFI receiver when the Netopia adapter was in connected to prevent a conflict between the two devices.
No the 360 won't recognize it, there's a wireless adapter made by MicroSoft specifically for the XBox 360 and it will only accept that one. The newer 360's have a built WIFI receiver.
