to be clear, this is an adapter that will let you hook into a wireless network from a PC that is not wireless enabled?

Exactly right, this will let you connect to a wireless network from a computer that doesn't have a built in network adapter. There are other applications as well.

Can you hook up an antenna to it?

There are several DIY signal boosters that combine a USB adapter with a parabolic dish antenna to increase its effective range, the end result is a directional antenna built with materials that are inexpensive and easy to come by, check out http://www.usbwifi.orconhosting.net.nz/ or Google 'Poor Man's WiFi'. Hope that answers your question!

You combine this with a parabolic antenna and use it as a long range WIFI receiver (see above post), you would have to disable the laptops internal WIFI receiver when the Netopia adapter was in connected to prevent a conflict between the two devices.

can you plug into an Xbox 360 and get the wireless feed from inside the house??
Dec 1st, 2012 at 12:42:46 PM PST by

No the 360 won't recognize it, there's a wireless adapter made by MicroSoft specifically for the XBox 360 and it will only accept that one. The newer 360's have a built WIFI receiver.
