Tofutsies Sock Yarn (solid green)

50% Superwash wool, 25% Soysilk fibers, 22.5% Cotton, 2.5% Chitin
(Chitin is a fiber from shrimp and crab shells that’s naturally anti-bacterial)
100 g / 425m (approx. 465 yds, enough for most adult socks)
8 sts / in. on US 2 needles
Color: Tropical TOEcan (a bright spring green solid)
Dyelot: 090109-251
Machine wash / dry

Patons Kroy Sock Yarn (blue stripe)

75% Washable wool, 25% Nylon
(Chitin is a fiber from shrimp and crab shells that’s naturally anti-bacterial)
50 g / approx. 150 - 160 yds (a full skein is 166 yds)
(Note: I used a few yards to finish up a pair of socks but it still weighs 50 g)
8 sts and 36 rows in 4 x 4 in. on US 3 needles, D hook
Color: Denim Jacquard
Dyelot: May be 1008-43547? (The number isn’t very clear)

This is only half the amount needed for a pair of adult socks but it may be enough for a child.

How soft is the green yarn? It sounds like it may be soft with the silk and cotton in it!

This is really subjective so don't hold me to it... I think it feels more like cotton before it's washed. It may be softer after it's washed and dried; I don't really know. It's less smooshy than the Patons but less scratchy than the Patons. I bought the yarn for summer socks because of it's anti-bacterial properties. It's perfectly fine but I have other sock yarns that are way softer.
