Literally heated in a solution of glass with lead in it. It's done to stabilize the gem.

hotrod 90 wanted to know what or why this was done! macys is being sued by not telling that this is done and why !! you are honest in the fact that they are real !!!!but most people do not know that the only way (due to the fragile state of the gem ) this process is needed to hold the stone together for cutting and polishing !! no offence just saying !!
