I understand what you mean. I ship simple patterns and it costs me almost $2.00 when you consider the pay pal fee, packaging and postage. Maybe if you state that the buyer pays the exact costs the folks wouldn't feel like it is so much. Anyway, the choice is yours as to how you state it and the fabric if really beautiful. Hope you have lots of bidders. I will be watching for now. Blessings!!
Sorry to hear you don't combine on shipping. It will keep me from bidding on several of your auctions as I am on retirement and can't really afford to spend that much. I understand what you are saying and it is up to you. OH, and when you list a auction under the shipping it gives several choices with the last one being "exact". Good Luck on your auctions and blessings.
I don't know how to do exact? Does that mean I have to first go to the post office, have it weighed, come back home , post it on listia wait for a buyer then pack it up and go back to the postal office. I am so confused Jane
Well, I have never done it but I think you would put it up for auction, when won find out how much it weighs and have the PO tell you what it would cost to send it. (Some sellers ask for the zip code so maybe the distance has something to do with it.) Once you find out what it will cost you tell them the amount. Or you could actually figure it out ahead of time by having the PO weigh it for you and you could put the amount plus what ever you need for handling, in the body of the auction. If I get to selling heavier things I think that is what I will do. Kind of a pain but then the buyer knows exactly what the cost will be. :)
the best way to handle the postage issue is, if you can get a small postal scale (very cheap) on ebay or even at the bigger post offices. then before you put your item online. pack it, weigh it and go to USPS.com. at the postal website you can calcualate the price by the size of the pkg and the area it is going to. Then when you have that information you can actually post the price if shipping in your description line..After it sells you just pick up you little pkg and march it down to the post office and mail it..Here is another tip if the parcel is under 13oz you can put stamps on it and drop in the mailbox..Over 13 oz you must take it in and hand it to a clerk (its a security thing). I work for the P.O. I this helps. I am new to this site and am looking forward to using it.
