I made these 4.5" x 2 3/4" stickers as a tribute to my late father Bruce Allyn Klockars, the artist who originally designed, hand painted, distressed, photographed, created the silkscreen, and hand printed this protest poster in 1970-- when he was a senior Art student at RISD.

According to legend, he stayed up for 4 days straight printing as many posters as possible. The idea was to get the message out to as many people as possible. He claimed to have printed almost 10,000 of them!? He believed that this was the most impactful artwork of his life.

Alas, the original posters were not meant to last. They were all screenprinted on 23" x 15.25" newsprint and pasted up outdoors all over Providence, RI and the surrounding areas. One of the test prints that was not used in the installation, at least, remains in the world, and is currently housed at the Oakland Museum of California. (See photos.) That version, he believed, was too easy to read. The version on the sticker is as he had envisioned it.

I will be printing a few full size poster pieces from the original negative that we found recently in the depths of the studio in his home. But for now, this very poignant message can once again get ‘out there’, albeit much a smaller version.

*****These are durable paper stickers. Not for use outdoors, in the shower, or in the dishwasher.
