An autographed 1980 Topps #592 Jon Matlack card features the standout pitcher who was named the 1972 NL Rookie of the Year after going 15–10 with a 2.32 ERA and 169 strikeouts. The first Mets pitcher to earn the honor, Matlack shone in the 1973 playoffs. In the NLCS against the Reds, he tossed a complete-game two-hit shutout in Game 2, key to the Mets’ upset over the Big Red Machine. In the World Series versus the Athletics, he started three games, delivering 8 shutout innings in Game 2 and finishing the series with 23 innings pitched and a 2.16 ERA.
