Micro sd card are quite small compared to normal sd cards ( used for cameras and such) micro sd cards are usually the sorce of extra memory in a cell phone. and most computers dont hav a spot to insert the card to transfer pictures or music or w/e even tho some computers have 15 in one slots. So for those who dont have a way to transferring pictures or music from computer to cell phone ( or other device) or cell to computer this is what they would need to do that.

so in summery a micro sd card transfers any data(like songs..) to and from between your PC and the memory card and then the memory card goes in whatever ( like a cell phone) so the reader is just the middle guy to transfer it .. he connects the memory card and the computer so they can share the data you want :)
