1944 Philadelphia mint Lincoln wheat “shell case” penny in good condition.
Shell case pennies were struck from copper shell casings that were spent during World War II.

After the 1943 steel cents, 1944 & 45 were made using brass shell casings. 1946 the mint returned to the traditional brass/copper composite. Also, keep your eye out for nickels minted between 1942 - 1945, they contain about 35% silver.
