The listing, VINTAGE BAKELITE ADVERTISING AP MUFFLERS BOX CUTTER KNIFE has ended.

Vintage advertising box cutter knife, AP Long Lasting Muffler, red box cutter knife. The handle is some sort of red plastic and I've seen it listed as Bakelite on e-bay. Just not sure. This is a neat old knife. You lift the bar and slide the blade of the knife forward. It is engraved "AP Long Lasting MUFFLERS" with white paint in the engraving. Much of the white paint is missing and the knife needs a good clean up.

FYI. It is not Bakelite. It is regular plastic. These sliding knives were popular n the 60's & 70's, long after they quit using Bakelite.

Thanks Susan. I got the information that it is Bakelite from several of these knives that were listed on e-bay, exactly the same knives except for the advertising. They almost all stated they were Bakelite. I'm not so sure because I have coffee pots with handles that are made of Bakelite that were made in the 1960s. There are new Bakelite jewelry items being made today from old Bakelite. Have you seen them?
