Description
The listing, Dell Inspiron 5000e Notebook with flash drive has ended.
I got this computer awhile ago from a friend and have decided to list it. I installed Ubuntu awhile ago via a CD I got. I don’t know of anything that doesn’t work because I haven’t done anything but type papers on it.
I have used the following and know work: USB port Sound Touch pad Keyboard Battery holds a charge AC adaptor
I have not gone on the internet or tried to install a movie player. I know the CD drive works because that’s how I installed Ubuntu but I have not installed a driver for it yet. The only thing that I have seen that makes it not work perfectly is a line about one pixel by 5 pixels that moves down the screen every once in awhile. It isn’t noticeable unless you look for it. 32 MB Memorex Flash drive will come with laptop.
Items are sold as is.

google chrome os is coming out 2011....Linux is working on it and microsoft is sure to be sweating....http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/07/introducing-google-chrome-os.html YEAY FOR OPEN SOURCE!!!!! OH, YEAH.....UBUNTU ROCKS!!!!!
Yeah I tried to google it and all I found out was that it was first introduced in 2001 and I have no idea when they stopped making them but they were part of a lawsuit in 2006 for faulty batteries and that's all I could find out... It doesn't have manufacture date on it somewhere?
It does say 2000 on the back but there isn't a tab that says this lap top was made in . . . I pulled the battery to see if it came with a date and it did not either. It does have a button you can press when you have removed it that shows you how good of a charge it has. It lit up all five bars. I should have taken a picture it looks pretty cool.
Does it have a spot to hook an ethernet cable up to it? I have a cable modem without wifi so just curious if this would work well to get on the internet.
It has a spot on the back that a ethernet cable could fit in. I have not tried to get it on the internet so I don't know how much work it would be. I know you can get any driver it would need for free. There are alot of people that are very good at getting computers up and running with this OS.
looks like the first google blog link was cut by listia, too....its completely safe to check it out....just copy/paste and delete the space between the (i n) in the word introducing....
This computer has Ubuntu and not windows. Please understand that I am selling it as is. If you have any questions please see the comments below or ask if you would like to know anything.
Nice listing! Just so you know, I'm holding off on the turkey for maybe two more weeks, but the Listia mods have told me they won't mess with it again. I'm just thinking that with so many people on vacation in early August it might be more fun and get more action later this month.
Good luck with this listing, it's a very good one!
Ubuntu is a system like windows. I installed it because you can get almost any program from the internet for free with it. If you have not used ubuntu or don't know someone who knows how to get the programs I wouldn't bid. It does not have windows . . . pretty soon everyone will have a program like this because windows costs alot of $$$$$$
