Thank you for your response. I like the whimsical addition of French admonition on front that "this side is reserved exclusively for the address", just in case you don't read Russian. : )
Most interesting, German is not used, even-though the German Empire was increasing in power and the Austro-Hungarian was the cultural center of Europe at the time. The fun of Postal History: a card like this one, opens many historical doors. Thank you and have a great day.
Maybe the Russians figured the wily French were more likely than the Germans to write something other than the address on the front of the postcard! : )
The front of the card and the penmanship is definitely Germanic. It makes you wonder, if it was correspondence amongst Austrian or German diplomat's residing in Russia with one having a Moscow address. definitely an interesting piece for research.
