FREE: Weird but Interesting Goldtone Pin

This was in with some "junk" jewelry a friend gave me (I had asked for broken jewelry for a craft project and apparently when she went through her jewelry box, she gave me everything she didn't want).

It is a beautiful shiny gold, and very heavy, but I'm not sure what it symbolizes. There are two pedestals at the bottom, which support a long shelf, which has a pedestal holding a round ball (a globe, perhaps?), which has a dangling star hanging off, with a diamond like gem in the center of the star. This is a really busy pin- very detailed!

It measures a little over 1-1/4" across the shelf, and the same from top to bottom. It is a tack pin (with the separate round removable "lock"), and I could find no markings on it anywhere.
