I have always loved the sayings of Buddha.. this one us a not only a reminder, but the Buddha himself, acknowledging how hard it can to follow the Way.

It is hard for the poor to practice charity, and for the strong and rich to observe the Way

Its hard to conquer the passions and to suppress ones selfish desires.

Its hard not to desire that which is agreeable, Nor to rise to anger when slighted

It is hard not to abuse one's authority, or to feel contempt toward the unlearned

It is hard to be one in knowledge and practice, and not to express an opinion about others

It is hard to be always the master of oneself
