this is measured from side to side. It is a medium sized brush. It can also be used on shorter hair that is about 3.5" inches long to very long hair.

You style just like with a blow dryer and brush. Pick the setting, turn it on and use it. Its one piece, you use on dry or damp, (not wet) hair. Section the hair and roll either under or flip the hair up, turn hair sideways, your choice. thank you for being interested in my item.
