The listing, 1861 - 65 Stamp on 1853 / 74 Target Cancel On Scarce DPO has ended.
Old letter inside.
This would be great for collector of 1800's letters, covers and also stamp collectors!
Sticker has a lot of abbreviated information. I put on my Postal History decoder ring on to decipher, LOLOL..
CDS - Circular Date Stamp (type of cancel).
DPO - Discontinued Post Office (some in existence only a year or two are quite rare.
Tolland - County where Coventry Depot is located.
1853/74 - Years "Coventry Depot" was in operation.
FVF= fine very fine, assume the previous owner of this cover is talking about the cancel?
Person writes about someone died of Lockjaw. From the letters I have, it's very interesting, people write about being or knowing others that are sick, dying or dead.
The year of this stamp is not verified, there are many different Scott Catalog #'s pertaining to this similar stamp. If anyone can help, that would be great.
I have many old covers, postal items & stamps, so check back nightly, just after 7PM, California time plus you can get in on the last minute bidding before auction ends at this link:
