I personally made this Rosewood Trimline pen with 24kt Gold plate hardware with my own hands. This is pen #11 for me... and I have to say, I think I'm getting even better at this. I thought about keeping it for myself. It's that nice!

The gold has an epoxy coating for durability. The wood is cut from a single blank - notice how the grains line up when it's open for use? The transitions from wood to metal are very smooth. Sanding was taken to 600 grit. Then 5 coats of Shellawax were applied.

If I was listing it on a online crafts store, I'd ask $30 for this pen... I'm putting it on Listia, in hopes someone takes it in time for Father's Day. If it's bought with GIN by Thursday, I'll spring for the Priority mail shipping and it'll be sent out the same day if it's in time to make it to the Post Office (or next if not) in hopes of it getting there in time...

Update: Added another photo. This last photo shows the pen up for auction next to a slimline pen (not included) to give you a better idea of the size. Trimlines are a little thicker and have a feel of quality to them without the bulk of a cigar pen.

The included ink is black. The pen uses a Cross style refill easily found at any office store.

REPEATING - the Slimline pen (on the right) in the last photo is NOT INCLUDED. It's just there for size reference.

I have a nice one made from polymer clay. I would like one made from a natural wood and also a nice dyed wood. Beyond that, I hadn't decided what I would like to try to find... maybe bone? Once I start collecting something I can get a wee pinch obsessive about finding unique and interesting pieces.

There are tons of options in terms of materials... bone, antler, ebonite, M3 (macro-molecular metal - want to do a Damascus steel one for myself), Polyester Resin (PR), Acrylic Acetate (AA), and then inclusions like pine cones, seed pods, coffee beans, etc. The list goes on and on!

I'm trying to get my hands on more Corian to make pens for the Freedom Pen Project (sends pens to servicemen overseas)... Corian just needs buffing, and handles high heats better than some finishes or wood that can crack.

My problem is lately I want to keep too many of the pens (but I don't). They're going into stock for upcoming shows, to the Freedom Pen Project, Gifts or online somewhere (like here).
