Not trying to be rude or anything but you can purchase these for around $5 on Ebay.

I know, you are not being rude. I checked it out, BUT some of them are worth more, according to the market value book, which I showed a copy of what it said, in it. :)

Yep! But did you see what the Beanie Value Market Value Book said?? Granted, I don't know anything much about Beanie Babies, I have seen the collection of them on display at the mall and they DO have some CRAZY prices on them, so just in case, I copied and posted the PAGE from the book of what it says about this one. Who knows?

Yes, it really is cute, still sealed, and there's always THAT market value statistic that says it is worth $1200! LOL Hey! Read it, I enlarged it, that's what it says.

The market value book is from 1998. Even if the value was as stated in 1998, it has little if anything to do with the value 14 years later in 2012. How many of us would like our houses to be worth what they were valued in 2002?? If you want to use a price guide to help a bidder determine market value, it should be an up-to-date price guide. Alternatively, if it is worth nearly $1000, it might be wiser to sell it instead of listing it here. JMO

Most things APPRECIATE, so I was hoping maybe this has too? 14 years old and still sealed and in MINT condition has to be worth something good, so I was going to pass on the blessing.

Don't look like its going to happen but who knows?

Anyone want to offer a reasonable GIN? SAY 4444, etc.?

Appreciation happens when supply goes down and demand goes up. With the advent of ebay as a major force in our culture in the early 2000s, the value of most collectibles went down, when everyone all over America (and the world) searched their attics, basements, trunks, garages, and kids rooms, and found all these 'rare' collectibles and put them up for bid. The market was glutted with Beanie Babies especially, and except for some truly rare and error editions, the prices plummeted. No collectible price guide is good for more than a year, and some for only 6 months, as the market changes quickly with the proliferation of on-line antique and auction sites. Only the market decides what the value of an item is, not the owner/seller. If no one is willing to pay an asking price for an item, then by definition, it is not WORTH that price. A true auction (starting at 0 or the minimum) allows an item's real worth to be determined.

Thanks! And temporarily, Listia does NOT have a minimum listing price anymore. They are seeing how it is going to work.

MANY of us want a GIN option, only! Without the risk of a minimum bid. However, setting our bids at what WE want, saves us from having to pay HIGH commission fees on the GIN. The GIN fees that Listia collects are 111, 222, 333, 444, 555, 666, 777, 888, 999 credits as the 1,000 credits increase.
