Description

The listing, Transcend 256MB IDE Flash Module aka Disk on Module (DoM) has ended.

This is what is called a "Disk on Module" or DoM Flash Memory. It fits in a 40pin ATA connector and provides a 256MB flash drive to a computer. It came from a Intel SS-4200 (Fujitsu Scaleo Home Server) Network Attached Storage (NAS) system and was replaced before the unit was ever turned on...It became a Windows Home Server. I believe the original EMC software is still on there... No promised though as I never used it.

WoW! been awhile since I've seen one of these, I'll bid on this for nostalgia's sake. Would be fun configuring this w/ a BartPE designed OS/Boot file.

Stay tuned then, more nostalgia should be coming soon... I'm always finding something to list. Too much stuff and too little room in this house.

Definitely unusual but I don't know about weird... They're used in several places you might not realize. They provide devices that would normally run an OS (be it a common one or proprietary real-time) to be used in a very rugged environment. You'll see them a lot inside of other equipment (Point of Sale Systems, instrumentation, set-top boxes for cable providers, etc.) but most people never know they're there.
