I am curious what a "Skynet Edition" disk might be? Would I have to buy a "Skynet" dvd player for it to work? (this question is from a "girlie" girl).

You don't need a special DVD player but you do need a Blu Ray player. "Skynet Edition" is a geeked out way of marketing this edition. On top of all the special features already on the disc, if you have an internet connected Blu Ray player you can download even more extra features. I haven't tried that feature yet so I can't really tell you much about it. To clarify, you don't have to access any of the special features to watch the movie. The picture and the sound on this movie are incredible.
