On February 2, 2015, he signed a minor league contract
with the Arizona Diamondbacks. A back injury sustained
during the first month of the season ended Laird's season.
He was designated for assignment on August 20, 2015
and released on August 24.
On June 16, 2016, Laird signed with the Toros de Tijuana
of the Mexican Baseball League.
He retired at the end of the 2016 season to become the
manager of the Single-A Detroit Tigers affiliate, the
Connecticut Tigers of the New York–Penn League.
