when it has a bad esn it usally doesnt turn on and in order for you to get the wifi it has to be on and btw i hvae this same phone and its $30 a month for wifi/mobile hotspots

Actually all I use mine for is wifi. When its not activated you turn it on and tap the screen. Untill you see the android Guy go away and it lets you use the cell.l..so mine is 100% useable.
