The listing, Beautiful .925 Sterling Silver Gemstone Bracelet Garnet Peridot Free US Ship has ended.
This bracelet is from my personal collection. It is the XO design with the Os being the bezel set oval peridot and garnet natural gemstone that alternate. There is a large lobster claw clasp and is marked .925. It is not tarnished at all, but does need a good cleaning to make it all shiny again. This is a nice sturdy bracelet, not too petite like some gemstone bracelets.
thanks so much jan. It is really a nice size. Not too petite and not over the top like some. It was one of my favorites, but sits all alone in a jewelry box not that I don't get out much anymore.
Sheesh, these comments are crazy. Did you see that Listia changed the home page setup? Maybe that's why the servers have been nutty the last few days.
So, I'm responding to your comment about your husband's job ... then he probably knows the frustration of believing that alternative energy would take off, like 20 years ago, and it has only slowly gotten any traction. By the time it becomes a really big thing, both of our hubbies will be long gone, I think!
My daughter is living in Germany, and people there are much more conservative in their energy use, because energy is MUCH more expensive. No one uses clothes dryers, for example, and many homes don't even own one. In much of Europe, the clothes washing machine is also a dryer ... my guess is that doesn't really dry the clothes totally. The quality of life in Germany is much like the US, except people don't use or waste as much ... it just costs too much.
The same thing will happen in the US but only if we are forced to conserve because we can't afford the gas, electricity, etc. If we used less energy, alternative energies could provide a larger percentage of our power. So, even paying more per kilowatt hour, for example, our costs would be the same. We just would have to live more simply and carefully. It's like recycling ... most people are willing to do that now. Attitudes about energy just have to change.
My other guess is that if this leak can't be stopped, it's going to produce environmental disasters world wide. It takes about two years for a drop of water to travel around the globe on the oceanic highway. Once other countries start complaining about our oil killing their birds and fish (and possibly entire industries), the US will have an even greater incentive to shut down offshore drilling.
My husband has just lost his job as the head of a wind energy group ... alternative energy, as popular as the IDEA of it is, still doesn't make money and it's too risky to invest in. He's hoping that if the US shuts down offshore drilling the government will create more funding for alternate-energy investments.
Without the government tax breaks (which come and go) wind and solar energy is too expensive and risky. So, this oil disaster may really help push forward investment and technology needed for more sustainable power sources.
so sorry about his job. My husband worked at FLA Power in St Pete nearly 30 years ago in "New Technology" which at that time was working on wind and solar industry. Should have pursued it but I guess the company didn't have incentives to keep it up.
Well, you can't blame the oil companies for doing what they need to make money. The drilling we do in the US produces only a tiny fraction of the oil we actually buy, about the only thing it accomplishes is to help prevent the Arab producers from having a total monopoly. If we stop allowing offshore drilling, which would be a good thing for the environment, my guess is that OPEC and possibly Venezuela will hike oil prices like mad.
Unfortunately, that really hurts people, lots of them, particularly poor folks. So, if more people start losing homes or have to choose between food and gas, the attitudes will swing back pretty quick ... go ahead and drill offshore and the environment be damned--I'm starving.
just got one almost exactly the same.love it!i havent taken it off since i put it on.comfortable to wear all the time and matches evrything.gonna bid here too:)
Oh, it was wonderful. Great "hot" weather, hadn't seen these friends in 10 years and it was like we saw them yesterday. Our daughters got along great. They live in Panama City, Fla., and everyone is holding their breath about the oil ... so, so sad!
My Dad used to travel and he took us to Panama City every summer for vacation while he was working that area. I loved it there, but haven't been in many years. I hope it doesn't get all messed up. Those oil companies are terrible!
