You have to have a sim card in it to unlock and use your iphone this does it for you right?? Now if you connect your phone to your computor and download a sertain software it will unlock your phone so you can then use your phone for anyprovider.

there are unlock codes you can get yes, but for iphone i am not sure, most people use the sim to do it, once a gsm phone is unlocked it can be use for any gsm service provider

Will this work with the AT&T iPhone 4 S? If I insert this in where the AT&T mini-SIM goes, it will then make it possible for me to go to a t-mobile store, buy a provisioned pay as you go (monthly, without a contract) mini-SIM, put it in and use it, if I don't like it I can go get a SIMple Mobile & use one of theirs or someone else's - as my iPhone would be un-locked to use ANY GSM network, or is there another step I'm missing whereby I must do something else each time I switch mini-SIMs/Providers?

once your iphone is unlocked you can use and gsm provider,
but you need a micro sim for the iphone 4, which i had 2 on here but gone now

I currently HAVE an iPhone 4 S ASSOCIATED WITH BUT NOT ACTIVE ON AT&T.
I have been looking for a means to unlock it & activate it on another carrier.
The numbers are all clean but my understanding is that, once you unlock it via the standard methods, some people refer to it as 'jail-breaking' an iPhone, it results in a fully functional serviceable iPhone but does something which alters it in a manner which Apple doesn't support & one can no longer receive Apple iPhone Updates.
IS this the case ONLY when using the hacks & codes or does using the mini-SIM method ALSO result in Apple invalidating ones iPhone for future apple Store or web site downloadable firmware/OS/Applications/Software Updates provided periodically, or not?
The question is to settle my curiousity but real issue is; either it works or it doesn't.
I HAVE heard that the SIM method IS the better way to go, so here I am, looking into it...
