Description

The listing, Michelangelo's The Delphic Sibyl -plate #61- 1973 - background paperwork included - free shipping! has ended.

This plate measures 10.25" by 14" including the outter edge. It was originally painted between the years of 1508 and 1512 in the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican in Rome, by the great master Michelangelo Buonarroti who lived 1475 - 1564.

My husband found a book/box of 101 plates called "Great Art Masterpieces" in the trash. It had just started to rain so the book got a little bit wet. I seperated them and let them dry.

They did warp a little bit from the water damage as you can see from the back side shot. It does not seem to affect the print itself, see the upper left hand corner from the front view.

Since we are keeping some of the prints, we are also keeping the fly page, index, Instructions, etc., BUT I will make photocopies of those pages for the winner.

I've posted photos of the original with a watermark. The winner will recieve COPIES of these documents.

One page says copyright 1973 CBS and another says: "How to use 101 Great Art Masterpieces. The pupose of this is to give you a wide selection of great art to live with in your own home. It's designed to function as an "at-home" art gallery allowing you to choose and frame and hang these great works as an important part of your decor." It goes on with instructions on how to remove a plate from the book without damaging it.

I looked up the legalities of creating certificates of authenticity and used the ehow guide to create certificates for these plates. So the winner gets an original signed (by me as the person who removed the plate from the book) COA.

This is going to look fantastic framed and will surely become a family heirloom.

Bidding starts at zero and shipping is free!

Have fun with this one and I hope you enjoy your new piece of art as much as we enjoy ours! It's going to look GREAT framed and matted and hung on your wall!

This is being relisted with the original buyer's blessing (a great Listian I might add). And for those of you who asked about the other prints in this set....if you can read the titles in the index photos.... and if you see one you're interested in....please let me know so I can take the photos and start the listing for you! Good luck everyone!

The winner gets the plate itself. I'm going to send a copy of the paperwork. I have 101 plates and only 1 set of the original supporting documents. So I'm sending copies of the supporting stuff along with the original plate.
Thanks for asking!

Hello, could you put the front of the actual plate in the pics ? Thanks
Apr 26th, 2012 at 10:04:54 AM PDT by

That is the front. The artwork you see is the actual plate.

Maybe the word "plate" is confusing since these are paper prints. "Plate" is the term the makers of this book used.

I believe a print is artwork that is printed individually and a plate is part of a collection. I'll go look it up and post what I find.

Ok. So it's not an actual plate just the paperwork. Why would someone want just the paperwork. That is no value without the plate itself unless I've misunderstood you. Listians are probably not familiar with ' plate ' being documents. Thanks

The plate is the art work, NOT the documents. The makers of the book call the art work "plates". I've looked and looked and the only difference I can find is that a "plate" in a book form is hand painted. This one does not say that so I can not guarantee that it's hand painted. I'm only saying that's what I found online.

I am providing copies of the DOCUMENTS to the winner as a courtesy. As I have already explained......I have one hundred and one plates and only one set of the supporting documents. Obviously I can not send an original set with each plate.

The plate is the art work you see in the pictures.

I sincerely hope this clears things up for you Boudreauxx!

If anyone else is confused please speak up, but I honestly think I've explained to the best of my ability already!!!

I got ya, the "Plate" is a picture on Paper and the maker referenced the piece of work as a "plate" you have a lot of them and only one copy of the supporting document for the entire set of these items, so that is why you can only send copies of the documents that came with the "plate and/or print" am I correct on this? I hope so wanted to help ya out lol fanned and watching but I do have one question, so sorry, the certificate of authenticity, do you have one for each plate?
