The listing, "SECOND YEAR" 1866 NICKEL THREE CENT PIECE has ended.
This auction is for an 1866 Three Cent Piece.
Even though this coin has been in circulation, the "Extra Shadowing" from Higher Relief around the Eye and Mouth, plus the "Beads" above the word "Liberty" being so detailed, this may very well have been a "PROOF" strike. Since the wear on this coin will not allow for definitive proof of the strike, I am going to just go with a "meant for circulation" strike. If you can have it checked and proven to have been a "proof" coin, that would easily change its value 10X.
This coin was minted in Nickel because of the previous Three Cent Piece that was minted in Silver ended up being hoarded by the public for its Silver content. This is the second year of mintage, and in a Very Fine condition.
Thank you for your interest in my auction and stopping by to view it.
