This is one of the most memorable of the giant monster films of the 50’s, this Sci-Fi classic concerns a shapeless, flesh dissolving mass that emerges from a fallen Meteor from another planet & grows larger with each victim it absorbs. At first scoffed by the local police, teenage Steve Andrews played by the legendary Steve McQueen in his very first ever lead role & his girlfriend, Jane Martin played by Aneta Corsaut whom had a re-occuring role in the TV Series The Andy Griffin Show. They enlist their drag-racing buddies to alert the entire town to the danger of this ever-growing mass of destruction before being trapped in a diner that is completely enveloped by the BLOB in the film’s spectacular climatic scene.
This movie features a hit theme song written by Burt Bacharach & Hal David titled “Beware of the Blob”. The Special Effects in this film were way ahead of their time as far as movies go. This movie seemed to rocket Steve McQueen to super stardom. The film was eventually remade again in 1988 but in no way compares to the greatness of this Classic Original!
WE ARE STILL DOING Spring Cleaning & this is the 1st of many VHS Movies I will be putting up for auction over the next week. Lastly you may notice on the photo of the front side of this VHS Tape that there is no “The” it only says BLOB so me thinks they messed up the front only as the 2 sides & back all say “The BLOB” like it shows in my 2nd photo.
