MIX AND MATCH AUCTION!
you will get at least:
1.15 gold plated lobster claps, measure approx. 12x7mm.
clasp hole inner diameter just over 1 mm.
2. 16 gold plated headpins are just shy of 2 1/2 inches, with approx. 2mm flat base. these longer head pins tend to arrive somewhat bent. i have picked out straight ones for the picture and these are what i will send.
winner will get at least as many as i have indicated by number.
winner may also mix and match, swap out with any item except the jump rings. i am low on those. although, knowing me i probably have more stashed somewhere.
will ship free, within 4 business days of end of auction.
will provide tracking number.
thanks!

okay! for venusparfait and all us jewelry makers here on listia, this is what fire mountain gems just told me in a live chat about gold plated jewelry findings:
"Gold plating has an industry standard of of .15 to .25 mils thickness of gold, silver or nickel which is plated to the surface of the base metal."
karat refers in this case not to the weight as it does in other instances such as gemstones, but quality of the gold. oh shoot, now i forgot just exactly what she said, but i know 18kt gold plated is much softer than 10kt gold plated. and i believe this has to do with the percentage of the gold (which is mixed with some other metal) in the mixture used for plating. it is layered over another metal. and plating, we all know this i think, will eventually wear off if the jewelry is worn. the more often and the longer it is worn, the quicker the plating will wear off. gold filled, you guys probably know this too, is 100 times more durable than gold plated, this gold is mixed with, not layered onto, the base metal used for the jewelry. but then of course it is much more costly. anybody can enhance this conversation, or correct me, i would appreciate it. thanks!

various items in auction. i don't know offhand and will have to research that information for each type of finding. when i have purchase jewelry findings, i don't recall the karat ever being mentioned. or the method of plating. perhaps this would be more important to me if i were making very expensive jewelry, but i am new at this and am settling for the best quality i can afford. i will see if i can find anything out and get back to you.
