The edge of the "dime". Is it smooth like a penny or ridged like a dime/quarter?

I'm sorry. I didn't notice the third pictured. It looks like someone "spooned" your dime. They took a spoon or some type of hard object and tapped the edge of the dime attempting to make a ring out of it. A friend of mine use to do that when we were teenagers, but he used quarters. Pro's can actually bend the coin just right to make a ring and keep all the detail. Regardless of how its done, purposely damaging a US coin is a federal crime. Not saying you did. Even though it is not a valuable coin, it is still something I'd like to have for my collection. I've never seen a dime done that way. Interesting

First of all great auction, secondly, value is in the eye of the buyer not what someone else "tells" you !!!
If this is truely a dime that has been stamped on a copper planchett then it is a mint error coin and is probably worth alot of money and you should have it looked at by a reputable coin dealer who can determine that for you, if it is just some kind of novelty coin then it is probably not worth much !!!

Roosevelt dimes are 75% copper and 25% nickel. Any coin with that much copper in it will have a copper rim when flattened like this one. However, I wouldn't take it down. No it might not have any book value to it, but as with anything else, a coin in any condition is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. In this case, i've seen a lot of coins that had no value, go for many credits. This one should be special because, although anyone can make a dime look like this one does, it takes at least an hour and a lot of patience to make it look like this one. I'd prefer to have this one instead of trying to make one. As far as it being an error coin, that would be a posibility, but not with a dime. The dime is the smallest coin made at the mint. There is no other planchet size smaller. If it were a penny, nickel, or even a quarter, I'd say yes, there is possiblilty of it being stamped on the wrong planchet, but there isn't any way for this one to be a mint error. Plus, a blank planchet is the color of the coin it is made for. If this had been a penny planchet with dime designed stamped into it, it would still be copper all over. I hope this helps you out.

I would tend to agree with Benjamin62 on the point that if the edge has been flattened out then it would have the copper showing on the edge and it would explain why the coin has a smaller diameter than the "normal" dime !!! Sounds like you have an interesting find on your hands !!!
Hopefully it will draw alot of credits for you !!!
