Description

The listing, Primula Candelabra Seeds, Mixed Species has ended.

This is a generous packet of seed containing various hardy, perennial Primula from the candelabra (prolifera) section. It includes P. burmanica, P. japonica, P. chungensis, P. pulverulenta, P. prolifera. There will be a wide range of colors from the palest pink through yellow, orange & deep pink to red.
Sow them in a large shallow pot in sterile potting mix, then place it outside to stratify during winter. The seedlings will pop up like crazy in the spring! Plant them out when large enough in the shade and give them rich, moist soil.

They do need a cool dormancy to blom weel. so if your winter temps. get down to 40*f or below for a few weeks then they should do fine. It's the summer heat that might do them in.

Primrose seems to love my climate--do you think they will grow THIS year, or is the cold stratification absolutely necessary? Don't know if I can wait a year, lol! F and W.

If you sow them as soon as possible so they can still get some cold temps. they should germinate by early summer. Otherwise you can sow them into a deli container with a lid and put that in your fridge for a month or two.
