If you have internet access with a wireless router at home, should be fine. Pretty sure you just need wi-fi for most tablets. He could always use it in hot spots, restaurants, cafes, book stores.

I'm not very familiar with this and I'm hoping to give this to my son if I win. Do I need to sign up somewhere to be able to access internet and pay a monthly internet fee just like with my smartphone?
