Charts the fractious reunion of an estranged father and daughter.  Actress Reese Holden (Zooey Dechanel) has been offered a small fortune, $100,000, by a book editor if she can secure for publication the love letters that her father (Ed Harris), a legendary, now reclusive, novelist, wrote to her mother, who has since passed away. Returning to Michigan,  In search of these letters, Reese treks from New York City back home to Michigan to find that an ex-grad student (Amelia Warner) and a would-be musician (Will Ferrel) have moved in with her father, who cares more about his new friends than he does about his own health and well-being.
