The following is the description from when I bought these vials. Please read before bidding.

"OUR VIALS CONTAIN 100% FLAKES WITH NO ALCHOHOL ADDED. The Vials size is 2" tall x 5/16" wide, made of glass, and have clear plastic snap on tops. The Vials are filled with the flakes and have NO liquid added. These are scraps left over from different projects from foil to fine jewelry therefore the gold karat varies but generally average 14K in purity. They make great gifts, stocking stuffers, or save them for a rainy day."

The only pure gold is 24K. Other metals or alloys are added to make the other Ks. For example 10K gold is 10 parts of pure gold and 14 parts of something else. These flakes are the same way. I randomly test a few vials from each order I receive and I have found gold flakes up to 22k and I have found flakes with very low gold content as well. I think my vendor's claim of an average of 14K is probably acurate.
