Keyboard Musicianship is based upon the student's need to develop a technical skill that allows him to play easily and musically as quickly as possible. Organized by interrelating melodic concepts with technical concepts, the book permits the student to develop a thorough knowledge of keyboard topography and to relate the concepts of musical elements to their controls at the keyboard. The author has set into piano pieces music largely based upon folk material from most of the countries of the world. This material exposes the student to both traditional and contemporary harmonic practices. In addition, a repertoire is included from the keyboard literature of the Baroque, Classic, and Romantic periods of music. It explores thoroughly modal sounds, with applications made to playing by ear, improvising, transposing, and creating traditional and contemporary homophonic and polyphonic accompaniments.
