The reverse of the coin features the ever-popular, Australian favorite, the Red Kangaroo. Dr. Stuart Devlin, the designer of the Australian decimal coinage introduced in 1966 and of the Red Kangaroo image used on this release, was born in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. The obverse image is the portrait of Her Majesty, Queen of Australia, Elizabeth II. Famed British artist Ian Rank-Broadley was the designer of the effigy.
