The listing, Military embroidered patch - Army Air Forces - WWII has ended.
Measuring 2.5" wide by 3" high, this hexagonal cloth/embroidered military patch was among my things passed on from an older relative:
I wasn't sure of its provenance but someone recently enlightened me about what it stands for. Thanks to that individual and the website where I was able to find this description (http://www.vetshome.com/military_army_air_forces_patches1.htm)
Worn from: 13 July 1943 - 1950's.
The Sixth Air Force served primarily in defense of the Panama Canal and also engaged in antisubmarine operations. The galleon suggests exploration, discovery, the Caribbean Sea, and the spirit of the air force. The winged star is the symbol of army air forces. The hexagonal shape indicates the unit's designation. Activated 5 February 1942, Albrook Field, Balboa, Canal Zone.
Campaigns: Antisubmarine, American theater.
Now it's time to find it a home with someone who collects such things. Except for some fraying around two of the edges, it's really in quite fine shape. I've shown both sides of it in photos. Has been stored forever in a clean, smoke-free place. The colors are bright blue, gold, white and red.
Thank you for looking, and thanks for your bids.
